For Daddy...

This post is for Jake, Lilah's wonderful, awesome, caring but unfortunately absent Daddy. He was saying the other day that he doesn't really know much about his daughter and he felt so bad about it. Well, here it is for you...

Lilah, at nearly 10 months...

Finally broke a tooth!

Her favorite food is french bread, but that can change. She loves water, sweet fruits, Chinese "joke", sweet potato and squash. She is receptive to broccoli, green beans as long as they are fresh, organic puffs, white rice and chicken and beef. She hates yogurt!!!! With a passion, it seems. She dislikes canned veggies, bananas, hard food, and juice.

I strongly suspect she knows how to say dada (for you!), dog dog (for any dog), and HI (whenever she's trying to get someone's attention). Of course, this is not going into her baby book, since its not an obvious thing but maybe someday. I know that 95% of the time she babbles dada dada is when she is around you. Consequently, she always seems to babble MAMA and LAI LAI when she's angry and hungry. Huh!

She is definitely coming into her own person. The last few days she's been throwing tantrums by kicking her little legs and pounding her fists whenever she gets angry (usually when I put her down when she wants to be held). She will usually scream then quiet down. I don't think it helps matters when I laugh at her (but she's just so darn cute).

She LOVES, LOVES, LOVES playing with kids. L gets so crazy excited when there are small people around. She prefers playing with boys, but funnily enough she prefers women over men in adults. Exception being her grandpa, dada and uncle of course!

She's down to 1-2 naps a day. One of them better be 1.5 hours long, or else it's going to be a miserable day for her. Sometimes I just want to tell her to sleep cuz she's tired but apparently she has her own agenda. As long as she has her nap, she will remain her happy, bubbly self.

The slew of compliments when we go out still hasn't slowed down. She's still an incredible people charmer, the biggest flirt I've seen. She will smile and wave at people to get their attention and its all good as long as they don't get TOO CLOSE!! She loves when people talk to her. Her preferred method of travel when we go out is still the Bjorn (sigh for Mama).

I love it when her face lights up when she sees the people she loves. She has the biggest smile in the morning trying to get daddy's attention while he's in bed. When we pull into the driveway of gong gong & ah poh's house and I ask "where are we?" she starts kicking her arms and legs. Sooo cute.

I think she knows that Mama is NOT the fun person. Mama is the go to person for comfort, but everyone else is the fun one. She loves playing with gong gong, auntie, dadda, ah poh, uncle kenny & auntie arielle and of course the kids. She doesn't like to "play" with me...

Consequently, she knows to whine and cry around me for attention. Everyone tells me once I'm out of sight, she's fine. Once I'm back in sight, she acts like she's being abused. What can I say, our daughter already knows how to work people :)

She still hates having stuff put in her mouth (ie, toothbrush, my finger) but she will happily stick anything and everything into her mouth. I think she has officially entered the orally exploring everything stage. She has also taken to sticking her thumb in her mouth, not to suck but to chew. I'm hoping its only for teething.

She loves her paci and will do crazy acrobatics to get to it. When I'm walking her upstairs for bed, she knows I have 2 pacis in my hand, usually down by my hips. She will double over while I'm holding her and trying to suck the paci from my hand (which is down by my waist!). She's a persistent one. Luckily for us, she doesn't cry or fuss for her paci unless its nap/bed/car time.

Speaking of, L has gotten slightly better with the car. I can go for short rides without a paci now. She also has started to look out the windows as we drive. I think she'll love the next car seat we put her in because of the view.

My favorite new development is her love of giving hugs. Her favorite things to hugs are stuffed animals, followed by dogs, then kids, then the adults who love her. There's no feeling quite like her laying her little head down on your chest.

And We're Off!

Lilah is 9 months and 12 days today, ish. I'm starting a blog to document her life as it grows up. Apparently, I've missed the first 9 months, which has been a blur. So I'm starting today, page one, no excuses.
Today was awesome, we (ok, my sister Jackie) discovered she cut her first tooth. My mom asked why I didn't notice it when my sister did. This was after I confessed to Jack that I thought I was a terrible parent for not noticing this morning. In any event, that sucker came out. YAY finally! She's the last one in playgroup to do so, I believe. I was thinking she wouldn't get teeth til she's over one! She was in a happy mood all day, and hung out with Aunt Jackie while I went to work for a few hours. I went home to meet up with everyone (Jack, Jr, Amelia, Dad, Lilah), during which L proceeded to greet me after HOURS of missing me by...crawling away as fast as she can. Uh huh, don't say anything when you're STARVING at 5am lil girl. I'll be crawling away as fast as I can then!
L & I went to Costco then came home with the monkeys (Jr, Amelia) and I babysat them for the rest of the night. Daddy worked late as usual (poor thing). Future posts will have pictures, once someone (ahem, JAKE) finally downloads them off my camera for me.
